Day 6 saw Team Nigeria surpass the 50-medal barrier and it was also the first time since Day 2 that the country did not win a GOLD medal.

Weightlifters Desmond Akano and Abayomi Adeyemi competed in the men’s 96kg and 102kg respectively, where they won Six medals in total.

Akano got the Silver medal after lifting a total mass of 336kg; Bronze in the Snatch (145kg); Silver in the Clean and Jerk (191kg) while Adeyemi won the Bronze medal with a total weight of 341kg; Bronze in the Snatch (151kg); Silver in the Clean and Jerk (190kg).

History was made in Cricket as Team Nigeria’s women won the nation’s first ever Cricket medal—Bronze—at the African Games by defeating Uganda 78-7 to 75-3.

In Swimming, Abduljabar Adama was in action for Team Nigeria where he narrowly missed out on a medal in the men’s 50m Freestyle, placing fourth with a time of 23.01s.

Team Nigeria got bumped down to 3rd position with a total of 55 medals: 22 GOLD, 13 Silver, and 20 Bronze.
