The MTN CHAMPS Season 2 train eventually came to a halt in the beautiful city of Calabar, Cross River State, for the Grand Final, which witnessed Baptist Vocational almost achieving a complete sweep in the Cadet and Youth categories.

In the Cadet (U-14) category, Baptist Vocational obliterated the entire field with a total of 64 points to emerge victorious in the Boys’ division. Although they didn’t produce any GOLD medallist, the number of entrants they had in each final was enough for them to pick up many points. Abua Government and Lutheran High placed 2nd and 3rd with 16 points and 12 points respectively.

In the Girls’ division, Baptist Vocational completed the Cadet category sweep by winning the title in 38 points, with Praise Ugwushita and Chinomso Ifeanyi snatching GOLD in the 400m and High Jump respectively. Delta Secondary School and Government Girls A tied for 2nd place with 25 points.

In the Youth (U-17) category, MVP Michael Anichie played a monumental role in seeing his team distance themselves from the pack as he contributed 20 points from his 200m and 400m victories to a staggering 67 points total for the team. Delta Secondary School placed 2nd in 27 points, narrowly edging out Dr. Bariere Thomas who came 3rd in 26 points.

On the Girls’ side, Abua Government prevented another sweep from Baptist Vocational as the Discus Champion, Mercy Eghuan led her team to claim the top spot with 41 points. Baptist Vocational ranked 2nd with 31 points while Aunty Iso International was 3rd in 26 points.

For the Junior (U-20) Category, It was a 1-2 Finish for Team MVP as Team A dominated with a total of 205 points, courtesy of the exceptional performances exhibited by Tejiri Godwin, Caleb John, Success Okeleke, Gafar Badmus and Miracle Ezechukwu amongst others, while Team MVP B got 141 points to place 2nd. Team Cross River was a distant 3rd in 74 points.
