World Record holder, Tobi Amusan secured a solid footing ahead of the rest of the season as she powered to victory in the women’s 100m hurdles at the Jamaica Athletics Invitational held in Kingston on Saturday, 11th May, 2024.

Amusan had a shaky start to her race before surging ahead with blazing speed to finish in 12:40s (0.9), eclipsing the previous world-leading time of 12.42s set by Tonea Marshall last month.

She finished ahead of reigning World Champion Danielle Williams who clocked 12.46s for 2nd, while Christina Clemons settled for 3rd in 12.54s.

Amusan’s remarkable performance on Jamaican soil and is a much-needed comeback after her experience at the Suzhou Diamond League late last month, where she was disqualified for a false start.
