Wesley Iwundu is really grabbing his opportunity with Orlando Magic, scoring his highest points tally since the NBA restart, making double digits on Tuesday in his team’s defeat to Brooklyn Nets.

Nets were the much better team, and when they opened a 12pt lead after the first quarter, Magic was always going to play catch up. Although the latter won the last two quarters, it was Brooklyn Nets who won the match 108-96.

Iwundu was in very good form for Magic, making his team’s joint high 18pts in the game alongside Markelle Fultz. Iwundu also made 5 rebounds and 3 assists in the game.

With Magic missing Al-Farouq Aminu who is still out with an injury, Iwundu who is yet to declare for Nigeria, is gradually cementing his place in the Orlando side. Judging by today’s performances, Iwundu’s place is more or less assured.

Although Nets may have won against Magic, they have missed the services of Spencer Dinwiddie who is not in Orlando with his team. Dinwiddie declared in June that he had contracted the coronavirus.

Athletics coverage was a discovery, having to move away from regularly writing about Football. Although it was initially daunting, but now being an authority in it makes the past effort worthwhile. From travelling on the same international flight with Nigerian athletes, to knowing you could easily interview: World Record holder Tobi Amusan, then Ese Brume, I have cut my teeth in this beat earning the trust of Athletics sources.
