Nigerian defender William Troost-Ekong played a key role for Italian outfit Udinese as they secured a 1-0 victory in their final game of the season against Sassuolo at the Mapei stadium on Sunday.

Making his 30th Serie A appearance for Luca Gotti’s effervescent side, the Super Eagles vice-captain started the match, as he formed a three-man defence along with Samir and Sebastien De Maio.

Troost-Ekong featured for the entire duration of the match, helping his team keep a clean sheet with four clearances, two interceptions, and a 76% passing accuracy.

Nigerian born Italian attacker Stefan Okaka scored the only goal of the match in the 53rd minute after Kevin Lasagna provided the assist to ensure Udinese clinched all three points.
