Grant Holloway won his maiden men's 110m Hurdle title in 13.10s

Grant Holloway proved that his exploits at the NCAA Championships this year weren’t a fluke as he emerged from a sea of experienced hurdlers to win the men’s 110m Hurdles at the IAAF World Athletics Championships in Doha.

Holloway, the World Leader in the event with 12.98, had the best start in the race, and once he got out off his drive face, he bolted away from his competitors to win his maiden World title in 13.10s.

Defending World Champion, Omar McLeod, was the only sprinter to match Holloway for start, but as they both began to pull out of the park, McLeod clattered into the seventh hurdle, and from there, his hopes of retaining his title faded.

Capitalizing on that fall was Sergey Shubenkov, who ran on the outside lane, taking 2nd with a 13.15s clocking, while France’s Pascal Martinot-Lagarde clinched third in 13.18, ahead of China’s Wenjui Xie.
