Twenty four hours after they broke the World Record (WR) in their Heat of the mixed 4x400m, USA went one better today as they set a new WR to clinch GOLD in the final.

The event, making its debut at the championships, had seen the likes of Poland, Jamaica and Great Briton set National Records in their respective Heats, but it was the USA,who added the experience of multiple World Champion Allyson Felix to their fold, that remained unstoppable.

Although they didn’t lead from the outset, Wilbert London did just enough to hand the baton in second to Felix who passed it on to Courtney Okolo,as she maintained the position.

With strong challenges mounting on the final leg from Jamaica and Poland- who were the only team to field female athletes in their 3rd and 4th leg, Micheal Cherry put in a commanding effort to anchor the team home in 3:09.34.

Jamaica settled for 2nd place, clocking a National Record (NR) of 3:11.78 while Bahrain set another Area Record (AR) of 3:11.82 to take 3rd.
