Emmanuel Gyang on his way to winning the 10000m.

The forthcoming National Trials for the selection of the Nigerian team to the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast will now hold at the National Stadium in Abuja, and not in Uyo as initially captured in the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) calendar released in the last quarter of 2017.

This was announced in an invitation letter sent by the AFN to states’ Sports Councils, Athletics Clubs, institutions and other stakeholders, ahead of the competition billed to hold from February 14 to 17.

According to the letter, participating teams have been mandated to pay an affiliation fee of N100,000, excluding the registration fee of N2000 per athlete. States, clubs and institutions are also expected to bear all financial costs associated with their participation in the four-day competition.

The Commonwealth Games will hold from April 4 to 15 in Australia.
