Super Eagles team training just before their 2018 World Cup qualifying match against Cameroon in Uyo

Super Eagles midfielder John Ogu was surprised at how easy it was for Nigeria to beat Cameroon in the first leg of their World Cup qualifiers in Uyo last weekend.

Nigeria effectively ended Cameroon’s 2018 World Cup hopes with a convincing 4-0 victory last Friday, and the Super Eagles could become the first African side to make it to Russia if they secure maximum points in Yaounde.

Although Ogu pointed out that he was joking with the assertion that he felt Cameroon were an easy side to beat, he also applauded the team and their coaches for putting up a good show.

Below is the exclusive interview with Ogu, where he also spoke about his club missing out of this year’s Champions League.

Athletics coverage was a discovery, having to move away from regularly writing about Football. Although it was initially daunting, but now being an authority in it makes the past effort worthwhile. From travelling on the same international flight with Nigerian athletes, to knowing you could easily interview: World Record holder Tobi Amusan, then Ese Brume, I have cut my teeth in this beat earning the trust of Athletics sources.
