The University of Benin Sports Complex in Edo State will be a beehive of activities on Friday, March 4th, as the ND Western/MoC Trials takes centre stage with over 200 Youth and Junior Athletes expected to take part in the event which is Making of Champions’ first major talent hunt since 2018. Here is the list of registered athletes for the trials.

More than half of the registered Athletes will be traveling from Delta State for the Trials, with many of them from ND Western’s host communities such as Ughelli and Utorogu. Athletes at the Trials will be divided into Youth (U17) and Junior (U20) Categories and will be competing for medals across Boys & Girls 100m, 200m & 400m events, with the immense opportunity to be spotted by ND Western and Making of Champions for the future! Click here for the schedule of events.

Athletes who registered after the deadline may not appear on the registered Athletes’ list but may still proceed to the venue to reconfirm their registration and pick up their running bibs before the start of the event.

Please consider the below information carefully:
  • Athletes Categories: Registered Athletes have been grouped into Youth Category for Athletes born in 2006 or later (U17), while Junior Category for Athletes born in 2003 or later (U20), as declared when registering. In addition, the Youth Category is for Secondary School Athletes only – any Athlete who have finished Secondary School already has been moved to the Junior Category. Athletes in the Senior Category will also be permitted to compete.
  • Medals: There would be Gold, Silver & Bronze Medals for the Youth & Junior Boys & Girls in 100m, 200m & 400m (36 Medals in total to be awarded on the day). Only Athletes in the Youth and Junior Categories will be contesting for Medals – there will be no Medals for the Senior Category.
  • Accommodation and Feeding: Please note that all Athletes will be responsible for their own feeding, accommodation and transport to and fro Benin to attend the event – safe travels to all!
  • Bib Collection & Reconfirmation: All registered athletes are expected to reconfirm their participation by collecting their running bibs between 2pm and 6pm on Thursday, 3rd of March at the Uniben Sport Complex. Registered Athletes who are arriving from outside Benin on the morning of the event on 4th March may collect their bibs at Uniben Sports Complex no later than 8am-9am. Registered Athletes who do not reconfirm their participation by collecting their bibs at these times will not be allowed to compete.
  • Health & Safety: We are extremely health conscious, hence, if you are feeling sick please stay at home. The use of face-masks, sanitisers and social distancing are necessary on the day.
