World Record holder Tobi Amusan, won GOLD in the women’s 100mH final at the ongoing African Games in Accra, Ghana!

She went into the race as the absolute favourite, but beat the gun after going into the blocks for the first time due to the noise of the crowd in the stadium. She got a yellow card and lined up again.

The gun went off for the second time, but this time, she nailed the start, flying to an easy win and clocking a time of 12.89s (-2.1).

She completed a hat-trick of African Games titles with that win, having won the last two editions in Congo Brazzaville and Rabat and also defeated Sidonie Fiadanantsoa who ran 13.19s to finish 2nd and Zimbabwe’s Ashley Tinashe Kamangirirain 13.59s.

The only other Nigerian athlete in the race Faith Osamuyi, just missed out on a podium finish as she ran 13.77s in 4th place.
