It was mostly the night of underdogs on Day 6 of the World Athletics Championships in Budapest and this we saw in the form of Danielle Williams who pulled an absolute stunner, zipping off from lane one to win the women’s 100m hurdles title!

The event already had the billing of one of the races of the championships and it did come down to a dramatic finish with the winner lined up in the first lane!

She got out to a brilliant start, went unobserved, but motored nicely, pulling through to win her second world title in a Season’s Best (SB) of 12.43s. Her first world title came from as far back as 2015 when she surprised the world as well.

In 2nd place was one of the season’s most outstanding performers and perhaps the favourite to win GOLD, Jasmine Camacho-Quinn in 12.44s. while the Bronze went to former World Record holder, Keni Harrison in 12.46s.

World Record holder, Tobi Amusan managed a 6th place finish in 12.62s.
