Nigeria’s duo Usheoritse Itsekiri and Seye Ogunlewe bowed out of the semifinals of the men’s 100m at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest, Hungary.

Itsekiri finished 8th in heat 1 of the semifinals with a time of 10.19s. Noah Lyles led the field with a sensational Season’s Best (SB) of 9.87s, while Hakim Sani Brown was 2nd in 9.97s. Omanyala got 3rd in 10.01s.

Seye Ogunlewe placed 5th in his first-ever World Championships semifinals appearance with a time of 10.12s. Christian Coleman was the winner with an SB of 9.88s, and Zharnel Hughes 2nd in 9.93s. Ryiem Forde was 3rd in a Personal Best (PB) of 9.95s. Akani Simbine got disqualified for a false start.

Itsekiri and Ogunlewe will return to the track much later for the men’s 4x100m relay.
