Favour Ashe took the bull by the horn when he lined up for the quarterfinals of the men’s 100m at the NCAA East Prelims in Jacksonville, punching his ticket to a second successive NCAA Outdoor Championships since he arrived on the US Collegiate circuit last year.

He went through this phases brilliantly, getting out well, holding form and powering to the finish in a time of 9.92s, aided by a 4.4m/s tailwind. Although it was a windy performance, it was also his second fastest time all-conditions as he seems to be getting into form just at the right time with the NCAA Championships now in view.

Right on the back of Ashe’s run was Godson Brume who competed in the next heat, his tall figure pulling away from the field of sprinters to win in 9.94s (2.7)!
He was so dominant in his race that he had enough to time to ease off and celebrate as he crossed the finish. Sterling Warner-Savage was 2nd in 10.07s while Alaba Akintola with a time of 10.08s, rounded off the podium placements, making it three Nigerian men to qualify to the NCAA Championships in Austin.
