It rained medals for Team Nigeria on the first day of action at the African U18/U20 Championships in Ndola, Zambia.

Odjoma Fejiro won the U18 girl’s Triple Jump with a distance of 12.69m, which was Nigeria’s first GOLD of the championships.

That distance also doubles as a new Championship Record (CR), obliterating Kasie Veronica Ugeh’s 12.56m set a decade ago at the Warri edition of the competition.

Grace Oshiokpu followed suit as she claimed the U20 women’s Triple Jump title with a Personal Best (PB)of 13.03m. She was the only athlete that went beyond the 13m mark on the day.

In the boy’s U18 High Jump, Nigeria went 2-3 as Justin Jimoh and Goodluck Fiaku clinched the Silver and Bronze medals with heights of 2.05m and 2.00m respectively.
