Super Falcons coach Randy Waldrum has handed Sevilla forward Toni Payne a maiden call-up to the National team while former captain Desire Oparanozie is left out of the squad as they fly off to Antalya to participate in the fifth edition of the Turkish Women’s Cup taking place from 15th – 24th February.
Payne, who previously represented the United States of America U17s and plays for Spanish side Sevilla, will be hoping to impress the new man in charge in the absence of Oparanozie.
Also known as the Alanya Gold City Cup, the tournament ranks as one of the more notable events on the women’s football calendar worldwide.
Waldrum will be hoping to use the competition to get familiar with the girls and build a team that is expected to compete at the top level of the women’s game.
