The Golden Eaglets of Nigeria fell to a 3-2 defeat to Cote D’Ivore in the final of the West Africa Football Union (WAFU) B Cup which took place at the Stade Kegue in Lome, Togo.

In what was a repeat of the group stage match which also saw the Ivorians come out victorious 1-0, the Eaglets played second fiddle to their West African neighbors for the better parts of the match.

After taking the lead through a fine strike from Sindou, the Ivorians took the initiative and scored quickfire second and third from the boots of Abdrumane Konate and Seydou Traore.

The Eaglets left it too late when they threatened a comeback after Ahmed Abdullahi scored twice in additional time.

Despite the loss, Fatai Amoo’s boys have joined the teams that have qualified for the 2021 U17 Africa Cup of Nations holding in Morocco 13th – 31st March.
