Armand Duplantis was in a league of his own at the second stop of the Wanda Diamond League in Stockholm where he soared over a World Lead (WL) and Meet Record (MR) of 6.01m to win the men’s Pole Vault, well ahead of Belgium’s Ben Broeders who cleared a Season’s Best (SB) of 5.73m for 2nd.

World Champion Sam Kendricks was 3rd with 5.53m, beating Pål Haugen Lillefosse who managed the same height to that position.

Holly Bradshaw won the women’s event with 4.69m, ahead of Angelica Bengtsson who got over 4.62m. Michaela Meijer and Tina Sutej both followed with 4.52m.

Having been defeated by her countrywoman Yuliya Levchenko just three days before at the Irena Szewinska Memorial, Yaroslava Mahuchikh rose to an equal WL of 2.00m to win the women’s High Jump, beating Levchenko managed 1.98m for 2nd.

Nicola McDermott beat Erika Kinsey to 3rd on countback as both athletes managed 1.93m.

In the men’s Discus Throw, Daniel Stahl hurled a big 69.17m, bringing his total wins this season up to 13, while all of his legal marks through the competition were well over 67m.

His compatriot Simon Pettersson put up a strong performance as he threw a massive Personal Best (PB) of 67.72m to finish 2nd ahead of former World Champion, Andrius Gudzius who got out to 66.80m.

With the introduction of the “Final Three” format in the Long Jump where the top 3 jumpers after five rounds are entitled to a mini-final, and the winner is then decided through the last jumps, Ruswahl Samaai was declared winner off of a last round Season’s Best (SB) of 8.09m (+1.5m/s).

He finished ahead of Thobias Montler who having led throughout the competition with 8.13m (+1.6), managed 8.06m (+0.3) in the last round. Marko Ceko who fouled in his last attempt, finished 3rd, having jumped 8.02m (+1.0) in the 5th round.

In the same manner, World Silver medallist Shanieka Ricketts snatched the win in the women’s event with a last round SB of 6.85m (+1.6) ahead of Caterine Ibarguen who also reached an SB of 6.61m (+1.1) in the last round.

Meanwhile, long time leader Khaddi Sagnia who leapt a PB of 6.83m (+1.6) was given 3rd place with her last round jump of 5.73m.
