Nigeria’s duo of Iyeneobong Essien and Elizabeth Anyanacho were among 30 young female athletes featured in the 2020 Malala Assembly Game Changers series.
Anyanacho qualified for the Tokyo Olympic Games – the first Nigerian female taekwondo athlete to make the cut in 16 years. She’s also going to be Nigeria’s sole representative in Taekwondo at the Games next year.
Meanwhile at 13 years old, Essien is Nigeria’s No.1 junior golfer, with 17 medals and 11 international tournaments under her belt.
Co-founded by Nobel Laureate Malala Yousafzai, the Malala Assembly is a platform for girls and young women around the world to share their thoughts, challenges and accomplishments.
