On this day eight years ago, Ajoke Odumosu set a new National Record (NR) of 54.40s to win the 3rd semifinal of the women’s 400m Hurdles at the London 2012 Olympics, finishing ahead of Georganne Moline who clocked a time of 54.74s, while Denisa Rosolova got 3rd in 54.87s.

Before then, Odumosu held the NR, having broken Maria Usifo’s previous mark of 55.16s in 2010 with a time of 54.69s.
She still remains the only Nigerian woman to go have gone under 55s in the event till date.
