The Super Eagles of Nigeria have been drawn in group D and will be coming up against Argentina, Iceland and Croatia at the 2018 World Cup tournament in Russia.
This is the fifth time Nigeria will be facing Argentina in the group stages of the World Cup, having played against the Albiceleste in 1994, 2002, 2010 and 2014 World Cups.
The Super Eagles recently played Argentina in a friendly game last month in Krasnodar, coming from two goals down to win the game 4-2. However, with Lionel Messi not playing in that game, Nigeria will be wary of the threats the South Americans pose.
While Croatia is a seasoned World Cup campaigner getting to the semifinals at the 1998 World Cup, Iceland will be making its World Cup debut in Russia.
Although Argentina will be the favourites to top the group, all other oppositions they will face would also fancy their chances of progressing to the round of 16.
For the Super Eagles, it will be a true test of their readiness to face the world having played their World Cup qualifying campaign without losing a game.
Nigeria will be making its 6th World Cup appearance in Russia, a third consecutive one having competed in the last two tournaments in South Africa and Brazil respectively.
