Nigeria's starting eleven vs Cameroon in Yaounde

Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr has kept faith with this same team that won last weekend, naming an unchanged lineup for today’s return leg of the 2018 World Cup qualifying clash against the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon.

This is the starting eleven for the match – Goalkeeper: Ikechukwu Ezenwa; Defenders: Shehu Abdullahi, Williams Troost-Ekong, Leon Balogun, Elderson Echiejile; Midfielders: Wilfred Ndidi, Ogenyi Onazi, John Obi Mikel; Forwards: Moses Simon, Victor Moses & Odion Ighalo.

Nigeria defeated Cameroon 4-0 in the first leg last Friday which put them in good stead going into the return leg later this evening.

If the Super Eagles beat Cameroon in Yaounde and Zambia fail to get a result in Algiers, then Nigeria could be the first African country to qualify for next year’s World Cup in Russia.

The match comes up by 6pm (Nigerian time)

Athletics coverage was a discovery, having to move away from regularly writing about Football. Although it was initially daunting, but now being an authority in it makes the past effort worthwhile. From travelling on the same international flight with Nigerian athletes, to knowing you could easily interview: World Record holder Tobi Amusan, then Ese Brume, I have cut my teeth in this beat earning the trust of Athletics sources.
