In a tough field featuring top athletes such as USA’s Noah Lyles, South Africa’s Sinesipho Dambile, and Britain’s Zharnel Hughes, Udodi Onwuzurike, Nigeria’s sole competitor on Day 6 of the World Championships had a fierce challenge in the third semifinal of the men’s 200m.

He started strong alongside his training partner Lyles, but as he approached the bend, the other athletes pulled ahead.

The race ended with Noah Lyles winning with a world-leading time of 19.51s. Zharnel Hughes (19.95s) and Sinesipho Damile (19.97s, PB) followed in second and third respectively.

Onwuzurike, the 22-year-old, finished 7th with a time of 20.26s.
