Nigeria presented a team to compete in the men’s 4x400m at the LSU Invitational in Baton Rouge. Fielding in a quartet of brothers Samson Nathaniel and Ezekiel Nathaniel, Sikiru Adeyemi and Chidi Okezie, Nigeria clocked a Season’s Best (SB) of 3:05.42 to finish in 2nd place!

Samson Nathaniel led off the team, coming in 4th place behind Georgia, Arkansas and LSU at the first hand-off to his brother Ezekiel. Although the younger Nathaniel had a race in his leg having won the 400mH moments before, he clawed his way up to 2nd place with a 45.99 split.

Now in 2nd, Sikiru and Okezie further consolidated their performances, closing down on the leading Georgia team who managed to steer clear to win in 3:04.57.

This is the first men’s 4x400m on record for Nigeria in 2023.
