Competing at the LSU Alumni Gold in Baton Rouge, Godson Brume won the men’s 100m, dipping under 10 seconds for the first time in his career with a fast 9.97s (2.3), ahead of Da’Marcus Fleming in 10.06s and Hakim Sani Brown in 10.13s.

Although the wind was just over the allowable limit of 2.0m/s, he is only the second man to go under 10 seconds in the NCAA this year, beating World Silver medallist Marvin Bracy who ran 10.26s in the process.

His time is also the second fastest time ever in LSU history behind Richard Thompson and ahead of Nethaneel Mitchell-Blake who are both Olympic medallists, and the second fastest time in the NCAA this year!
