Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s scored the winning penalty for Arsenal as they lifted their 16th Community Shield, defeating Premier League champions Liverpool 5-4 on penalties at Wembley.

The Gabonese attacker, whose goals helped Arsenal win the FA Cup earlier this month, helped his team break the deadlock with a stunning curling finish from the edge of the box for his fifth goal at Wembley this summer.

Arsenal went into the break with the lead as they handled the pressure from Jurgen Klopp’s side and came close to doubling their lead with Eddie Nketiah’s shot saved by Alisson after a cross from Nigerian-born Bukayo Saka.

Senegal attacker, Sadio Mane came close to leveling the score for Liverpool just after the break, but his shot was well saved by Emiliano Martinez. However, Takumi Minamino pounced on a loose ball in the 73rd minute to poke the ball in from close range to level the score.

Heading into the penalty shoot-out, Egypt International, Mohammed Salah scored the first spot-kick for Liverpool, but it wasn’t enough as Rhian Brewster rattled the crossbar with his effort.

Elsewhere, Aubameyang paid an emotional tribute to the late Chadwick Boseman by doing the Wakanda Forever celebration after scoring the opening goal.

The US actor, best known for playing Black Panther in the Marvel superhero franchise, has sadly died of cancer aged 43.
