Nigeria’s Afeez Aremu has completed his move to German Bundesliga 2 side, St Pauli from Norwegian club IK Start.

The midfielder, who as part of Nigeria’s U20 side to the U20 AFCON in Niger in 2019, helping Nigeria to a fourth place finish.

Aremu joined IK Start from Ghanaian club Inter Allies in 2018 and made 65 appearances, scoring five goals.Also, he has a strong fitness record, having played over 30 games in each of his two seasons at IK Start.

Head coach Timo Schultz says: “In Afeez we’re getting a component our squad had been lacking. He’s the dynamic ‘enforcer’ type of player I was after. He’s already completed several seasons at a high level.

He is the club’s fourth summer acquisition following the arrival of Lukas Daschner from third-division MSV Duisburg, Rodrigo Zalazar from Eintracht Frankfurt and Maximilian Dittgen from SV Wehen.

“I’m glad to be here at last. When I got the offer from St. Pauli, I didn’t need much time to think. It’s a big club and for me the next important step in my development. I can’t wait to get to know my teammates.” Aremu said after completing his deal.
