Kalidou Koulibaly’s Napoli have been knocked out of the UEFA Champions League following Saturday’s 3-1 defeat to FC Barcelona at the Camp Nou.

A brace from reigning Ballon D’or winner Lionel Messi and an early goal from French defender Clement Lenglet sent the Spanish outfit into the quarter-finals.

Gennaro Gattuso’s boys went into the clash on the back of a 1-1 draw played from the first leg in Naples, but it took just 10min for Lenglet to give Barcelona the advantage.

Moment’s later, Messi won a penalty after some sloppy defending from Kalidou Koulibaly, giving Luis Suarez the chance to convert from the spot.

The Italians gave themselves a lifeline at the end of the first half, with Lorenzo Insigne slotting home from the spot after a foul from Ivan Rakitic.

Senegal international Koulibaly was in action from start to finish but was unable to rescue the Partenopei’s from the jaws of defeat.
