Nigeria's Tobi Amusan and Janeek Brown look up to the board to see what time they have posted in the women's 100mH semis

Nigeria’s Oluwatobiloba Amusan has qualified for the final of the women’s 100m Hurdles at the 2019 World Championships in Doha, emerging a clear winner in heat 3 of the semifinals to go through.

Amusan qualified for the final, matching her Personal Best (PB) of 12.48s which she ran on Saturday, repeating it in the semis to underline her status as a major contender for a medal.

Jamaica’s Danielle Williams ran the fastest time in the semis, winning heat 1 with a time of 12.41s ahead of Nia Ali who ran a PB of 12.44s to take the second automatic spot and qualifying for the final.

World Record holder, Kendra Harrison shook of the challenge of Megan Tapper to take heat 2, crossing the line in 12.58s. Tapper ran a PB of 12.61s to earn a place in the final.

Going by her well she has run the rounds, Amusan would know that she has a big chance to finish on the podium, and she could do it breaking Glory Alozie’s 20-year-old record of 12.44s which she incidentally ran at the 1999 World Championships.

What fitting way for Amusan, if she can break the record at a World Championships, with an icing of winning a medal, whatever colour that comes her way.

Athletics coverage was a discovery, having to move away from regularly writing about Football. Although it was initially daunting, but now being an authority in it makes the past effort worthwhile. From travelling on the same international flight with Nigerian athletes, to knowing you could easily interview: World Record holder Tobi Amusan, then Ese Brume, I have cut my teeth in this beat earning the trust of Athletics sources.
