The USA set a new World Record in the mixed 4x400m relays

The 17th edition of the ongoing World Athletics Championships taking place in Doha witnessed history as the mixed 4x400m relay took center stage at the global showpiece for the first time.

Team USA were the dominant country in the Heats as the quartet of Tyrell Richard, Jessica Beard, Jasmine Blocker and Obi Igbokwe stormed to a new World Record (WR) of 3:12.42s to win Heat 1.

Jamaica also set a new National Record (NR) of 3:12.73 to place second, with Bahrain, who were anchored by 2017 World Silver medallist in the 400m, Salwa Eid Naser, taking 3rd in an Area Record (AR) of 3:12.74s. All three qualified for the finals alongside Great Britain who qualified as one of the fastest losers.

Team Poland claimed the spoils in Heat 2 with a commanding performance as they clocked 3:15.47s for the win.Brazil, India and Belgium also made it to the final.
