As the 2019 Track and Field season heightens with the 2019 World Championships very much in mind, the curtain is also being drawn on the Diamond League as Zurich would again host the first of her finals.

This year’s edition of the Diamond League is the tenth edition of the annual fourteen-leg series, with Zurich being the 13th leg. It is also the 3rd edition to feature the championship style.

African Record holder, Blessing Okagbare, who has a Season’s Best (SB) of 22.05s from the Prefontaine Classic, would take on a huge field which could bolster her confidence in the women’s 200m at the Letzigrund Stadium when she lines up with Olympic 400m Champion, Shaunae Miller-Uibo and the Olympic 200m Champion, Elaine Thompson.

Thompson is currently the World Leader with her 22.00s SB from the Jamaican National Championships in Kingston, while Shaunae Miller-Uibo has so far registered 22.09s as her best time over the distance this season.

Dina Asher-Smith should also be in the mix with her SB still at 22.18s from the first Diamond League in Doha, alongside Dafne Schippers and newly crowned Swiss Champion, Mujinga Kambundji who ran a big PB of 22.26s at Swiss National Championships.
