The wait for a first medal for Team Nigeria at the 12th edition of the African Games taking place in Morocco will enter Day 6 as the team hasn’t yet churned out any medals, but there were still some positives to take from her performance on Day 5.

The football team got back to winning ways today, as the Flying Eagles triumphed over their South African counterpart 2-1 in Sale. Paul Aigbogun didn’t ring much changes to the team that drew their opening game to Burkina Faso’s U20 side, with only Saeed Jibril coming into the attack.

Collins Sor got the U20 team’s noses in front in the first half, before Ahmad Ghali added the second in the 78th min.

The team have now racked up four points from their opening two matches and will now play Morocco’s U20 side on Friday.

In Rowing, Semidara Abu Glory placed 5th in the Heat 1 of Women’s Single sculls 1000m as she qualified for Final A, while Suku Samuel finished in 4th place in Heat 2 of the Men’s Single sculls 1000m.

Also, the duo of Toko Esther and Moses Micheal qualified for Final A of the men and women LW Single Single sculls 1000m event after they both placed 5th in the preliminaries.

Finally, Team Nigeria’s Goodluck Anyasodike and Godwin Sam couldn’t claw their way back into reckoning after narrowly losing the first set of their beach volleyball match, as they eventually succumbed 21-18, 21-12 to South Africa’s duo of Goldschmidt & Williams.
