Tobi Amusan would take on a quality field when she lines up in the women’s 100m Hurdles at the London Stadium in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park for the 10th leg of the 2019 Diamond League.

The Nigerian who clocked a blazing 12.49s Personal Best (PB), coming from a 12.71s Season’s Best (SB), laid down her intent strongly in beating Queen Claye (12.63s) in Sotteville-lès-Rouen as her time ranks as the third fastest in the world. It also marks an impressive improvement on her previous PB of 12.57s from 2017.

In London, she is entered as the fastest woman, and would be wary of the stiff challenge  the Jamaican trio of Danielle Williams (12.66s), Megan Tapper (12.66s) and Yanique Thompson pose to her.

She would also face the revered Nia Ali of the United States, an improving Tiffani McReynolds and Queen Claye again.

The London Diamond League would last for two days- July 20th and 21st, with Amusan competing on the first day.

On the second day of competition, the women’s 100m would feature Blessing Okagbare who had been absent from her last three provisional listings in Lausanne, Hungary and Monaco respectively.

Okagbare, who last competed at the Prefontaine Classic where she returned a time of 22.05s, would face joint world leader, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce in the women’s 100m.

In a packed line up, Murielle Ahoure and Marie Josee Ta Lou of Ivory Coast are her other African counterparts. Also in sight is the European Champion, Dina Asher-Smith and the reigning World 200m Champion, Dafne Schippers.
