Nigeria’s top sprint hurdler, Tobi Amusan would again compete against a world class field at the third leg of the 2019 IAAF Diamond League holding in Stockholm, Sweden, on May 30th.

She had run at the opening leg of the series in Doha and did beautifully against a tough field that included the Olympic 100m Hurdles Champion, Brianna Rollins-McNeal.

Amusan interestingly had the best start in the field and led for a good part of the race until Jamaican Danielle Williams pedalled past her over the final barriers. She was rewarded with a Season’s Best (SB) of 12.73s in 2nd place as the winner took the race in 12.65s.

Now at the Bauhaus-Galan, she will face even stiffer competition with World Record (WR) Holder, Kendra Harrison in the field. Harrison is also the fastest woman in the world this season in the women’s 100m Hurdles with her time of 12.47s recently set at the French Caribbean city of Guadeloupe.

Sharika Nelvis’ latest race at the Seiko Grand Prix yielded an SB of 12.70s, and she goes into the competition as the second fastest woman, while Elvira Herman, the European Champion, has an SB of 12.88s.
