Watford FC striker Isaac Success, who came in for Victor Osimhen wins a header in the 18 yard box of the cranes of Uganda.

The cranes of Uganda continued to have an upper edge over the Super Eagles of Nigeria in recent times, as the East African nation played out a goalless draw against the three-times Nations Cup winner in an international friendly game which took place in Asaba.

Gernot Rohr made wholesome changes to the side that drew South Africa three days ago, bringing in the Under-17 stars from 2015- Samuel Chukwueze and Victor Osimhen into the attack, while John Ogu dropped back to partner Semi Ajayi in defense.

The Super Eagles dominated the early proceedings of the game, with the best opportunity falling to Osimhen when he was put through on goal by Mikel Agu, but the Charleroi Fc forward dilly dallied on the ball before being dispossessed by the Ugandan defense.

With the score still goalless going into half-time, Rohr brought in the trident of William Troost-Ekong , Isaac Success and Samuel Kalu in order to bring some added impetus into the game.

Kalu became a thorn in the flesh in the Ugandan defense, as he wrecked havoc with his pin-point crosses and dribbles on the byline. Those crosses, however, couldn’t be converted by both Isaac Success and Mikel Agu.

Rohr went for broke when he introduced Leicester City forward Kelechi Iheanacho into the game, but the attacker couldn’t make much difference, as the Ugandan back line defended resolutely, holding the Super Eagles to a draw.

Both sides had qualified for the 2019 African Cup of Nations, as they used the game to start preparations for the continental showpiece.
