24 athletes secured Golden Tickets to the MoC Athletics Trials Final which comes up in Enugu on Saturday.

The light showers didn’t stop expectant athletes from converging at Government College Ughelli on Wednesday as almost 100 athletes were engaged in a battle of superiority to secure Golden Tickets for the Final of Making of Champions’ (MoC) Athletics Trials, which comes up in Enugu on Saturday, September 29th.

The MoC Trials kicked off in Port Harcourt on Monday, with the Trials in Ughelli constituting the second leg of the exercise, which saw the Government College tracks being set alight by the athletes.

Several athletes from the host institution also participated in the Trials, racing in the 100m, 200m and 400m. At the end of the day, 24 athletes received Golden Tickets to the Enugu Final, joining their 18 counterparts from Port Harcourt.

MoC Founder/CEO Bambo Akani was excited at the raw talent on display at the Athletics Trials. He said: “I am satisfied with the turnout in Ughelli. You can see a lot of raw talent here which is very exciting. Government College Ughelli is a partner of ours, considering that two of our athletes came from here: Jerry Jakpa and Favour Ekpekpe. From all the three locations: Port Harcourt, Ughelli and Enugu, we are looking for a maximum of 10 athletes to join MoC Track Club next year.”

The last set of Golden Ticket winners will emerge from Enugu on Friday, September 28th, ahead of Saturday’s final.
