The 2018 National Athletics Championships will now hold from Thursday, July 5th, to Saturday, July 7th, according to an Invitation Letter sent by the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) to Clubs, State Associations, Para-Military organisations and other stakeholders, on Tuesday.

Based on the calendar released earlier this year, the National Championships was initially billed to run from July 8th to 12th, in Asaba.

However, the championship will now take place at the Abuja National Stadium, and will be used as the final Trials to select Nigeria’s team to the 2018 African Senior Championships holding in Asaba from August 1st to 5th.

Clubs have been instructed to submit their entries on time as no entry will be entertained at the venue of the competition. Also, all athletes participating in the three-day championship are asked to carry valid license at the cost of N2000 per athlete.

According to the letter, participating clubs are to take care of their athletes’ feeding, accommodation and transportation costs to and from Abuja.
