The 4th Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) Golden League initially billed to hold this weekend, May 25th and 26th, has now been postponed till further notice, according to a release by the federation on Monday.

The competition was to hold in Ozoro, Delta State, on Friday and Saturday, and it was meant to be the first competition on the domestic scene since last month’s Commonwealth Games.

However, Technical Director of the federation, Sunday Adeleye, attributed the change of plans to the ongoing Ramadan exercise being observed by Muslim faithful around the world.

He also noted that entries sent by states, clubs and institutions were low, but that the federation is working on other plans which will be unveiled later.

It remains to be seen whether the National U-18 and U-20 Trials slated to hold in Ozoro on June 8th and 9th, will also be affected.
