Another set of winners have emerged yet again in the MoC Fantasy Race competition, with two teams by Toheeb Lawal and Abraham Ibironke having a tie for first place after winning the Paris race contest in our league.

For the last six meets, we have seen different winners claim victories, and owing to the competitiveness of our league, no team has been able to win back to back meets this season, but we have now had two teams tie with same number of points in a meet.

What is baffling is how Team Top Sprinters still managed to lead in our league, despite finishing 32nd from Paris scoring just 91 points. In fact the outing cost Top Sprinters so much that they have now dropped out of the top 100 in the world for the first time this year.

However Top Sprinters would take solace in the fact that with a total of 938points, they still have their lead in the MoC league.

How the teams fared at the Paris Diamond League

Paris wasn’t too favourable for many teams as not all the favourite captains chosen returned the expected maximum points.

For people who chose Jamaican champion Omar McLeod, hoping that he could easily get 12.88s having raced to a World Lead of 12.90s in Kingston, it was with anguish that they watched him finish 7th and could only return 2 points (especially when someone like Elaine Thompson won and accounted for 30 points)

There were other surprise losses, like the case of Thomas Rohler in the Javelin, but there were other regular wins for the likes of Christain Taylor and many others. Meanwhile there was the unpredictable as well in the 3000m Steeplechase where neither World Record holder Ruth Jebet and Celliphine Chespol, or even Hying Kiyeng won.

For Lawal and Ibironke, they made good choices with their athletes which helped them top the standings as they both scored 127 points . Jeffery Ijeomah’s team joined the fray in 3rd having finished with 124 points. This is his 2nd time in our top three having won in Oslo.

Athletics coverage was a discovery, having to move away from regularly writing about Football. Although it was initially daunting, but now being an authority in it makes the past effort worthwhile. From travelling on the same international flight with Nigerian athletes, to knowing you could easily interview: World Record holder Tobi Amusan, then Ese Brume, I have cut my teeth in this beat earning the trust of Athletics sources.
