An excited Egwero after winning the men's 100m

Over 400 athletes have been invited by the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) having met the entry marks to compete in this year’s National Championships taking place in Abuja.

The AFN released a list of qualified athletes this weekend, which involves foreign based athletes and those in Nigeria, who would all converge for the National trials from July 13th-15th.

Contrary to some reports that the trials will be thrown open, only those listed by the AFN would be allowed to compete at the Championships.

Athletics coverage was a discovery, having to move away from regularly writing about Football. Although it was initially daunting, but now being an authority in it makes the past effort worthwhile. From travelling on the same international flight with Nigerian athletes, to knowing you could easily interview: World Record holder Tobi Amusan, then Ese Brume, I have cut my teeth in this beat earning the trust of Athletics sources.
