Multiple African Record holder in the women’s T54 category, Hannah Babalola will lead a team of Para-Athletes to Top Sprinter Lagos Relays 2016 holding from September 29th to October 1st at the Teslim Balogun Stadium in Lagos.

Babalola, who holds the African Records in the 100m, 200m, 400m and 5000m, represented Nigeria at the recently concluded Rio 2016 Paralympic Games where she got to the final of the 100m, and also competed in the heats of the 800m.

The Union Bank Ambassador will be in action in her main event, the women’s 100m (T54) on Saturday afternoon, which is also the final day of competition at the 2016 Top Sprinter Lagos Relays. Three other Track events will be competed in on the same day: the Women’s T11/13 100m, Men’s T11/13 100m, and Men’s 100m (Deaf).

Para-Athletics will kick off on Friday, September 30th with the women’s F40 Shot put, which will hold by 2pm.

Organisers of Top Sprinter 2016, Making of Champions (MoC) decided to include the Para-Athletics event to show support for the country’s contingent to the Paralympic Games in Brazil where they returned with 12 medals, finishing 17th on the medals table.

Three Para-Athletes: Lauritta Onye, Flora Ugwunwa and Eucharia Iyiazi were medallists in Rio, winning two GOLD and a Bronze medal respectively, an improvement from London 2012 where Iyiazi was the only medallist in Track and Field.

MoC Founder/CEO Bambo Akani also appealed for more support for the special athletes from corporate organizations.
