Having passed through so many ordeals to get to Brazil, Nigeria’s Dream Team VI have finally touched down in Manaus just hours before their opening game against Japan.

With the team missing their initial flight on Wednesday and rejecting another chartered aircraft gotten for them later in the evening, they eventually departed on Thursday morning and have now gotten to Brazil in time for their first game.

According to the media officer of the team, Timi Ebikagboro, Dream Team IV touched down in Manaus around 2.19pm local time (7.19pm Nigerian time).

They will take to the pitch in about six hours from the time of this report (9pm local time on Thursday which will be Friday 2am Nigerian time) to play against Japan.

Athletics coverage was a discovery, having to move away from regularly writing about Football. Although it was initially daunting, but now being an authority in it makes the past effort worthwhile. From travelling on the same international flight with Nigerian athletes, to knowing you could easily interview: World Record holder Tobi Amusan, then Ese Brume, I have cut my teeth in this beat earning the trust of Athletics sources.
