It is with great excitement and anticipation that we announce the launch of our new website www.makingofchamps.com! The Making of Champions Movement started just 18 months ago in Nigeria to “lift the lid on how Champions are made” in Track & Field, and it shows no sign of abating. Now, after a full season and a half of bringing you Nigerian Athletics news from around the world in a way no one else ever has, we are migrating from our old blog to this new fully interactive website!

In 2014, Making of Champions (MoC) has become the No. 1 online community for Nigerian Athletics – over 61,000 blog views, 29,000 views on our Youtube Channel, over 14,000 Facebook fans, 6,000 Google Plus views, 1,100 Followers on Twitter & 250 on Instagram. Makingofchamps.com will be the online portal through which all our fans and followers can stay abreast of all the exciting Team Nigeria news and MoC-related updates in the coming years!

Making of Champions will continue to bring you the best of Naija Track & Field in 2015 and beyond, only bigger and better than ever before! We will be expanding our team of in-house Sports writers and media professionals to ensure that Making of Champions remains dedicated to bringing you all the action LIVE from every single Team Nigeria competition internationally, just as we did at the 1st ever World Relay Championships, the Commonwealth Games and the African Championships in 2014!

Furthermore, up to 180 stories previously published on the old blog have been migrated to this website. For your ease of reference and reading pleasure, we have arranged these archive stories into different categories by type (features, interview, previews and reviews) and by the competitions they relate to. Now you can easily navigate all the content to find the stories that you are most interested in, and re-live all the excitement of the last year and a half!

Indeed, this launch comes at the end of what has been a promising new period for Nigerian Athletics. Our coverage of Nigeria’s first World Championship medals in 14 years through Blessing Okagbare in August 2013 is what first garnered Making of Champions national attention, when then Nigerian Sports Minister, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, engaged MoC Founder Bambo Akani as a Sports Consultant to help run a 3-day strategy session on installing a High Performance System for Sports in Nigeria.

At the very core of Making of Champions is the firm belief that Nigeria can become the No. 1 Track & Field nation in the world within 5 years. As such, our plan is to launch the MoC Professional Track Club in 2015, to train athletes at home that will become our future Olympic and World Champions! Perhaps the most exciting aspect of our plans is how we will find the best talents in the nation – Top Sprinter will be a reality TV-styled talent search that will become the Idol or X-Factor for finding the best Athletics Talent in Nigeria. Top Sprinter will capture the imagination of the nation and command the world’s attention!

We invite you to spend some time exploring the new website and learning more about our plans to help revolutionise Nigerian Athletics – you won’t be disappointed! Watch this space for further updates throughout the week, and for more key announcements as we approach 2015!
