As the 2016 outdoor season takes off in earnest, the 3rd Track and Field Coaches Association of Nigeria (TAFCAN) Trials for 2016 will hold at the Main Bowl of the National Stadium, Surulere on Friday, April 29, 2016.

The Track events to be competed in in the men and women’s categories include the 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 5000m, 110m / 100m Hurdles, 400m Hurdles and the 4x100m relay. The women will compete in the 4x200m relay, while their male counterparts slug it out in the 4 x 300m relay.

The Field events taking place include the Hammer Throw, Shot put and Discus throws for both men and women. Athletes and clubs have been asked to send their entries to [email protected].

The first TAFCAN Trials took place at the Teslim Balogun Stadium in March, while the second was held earlier this month at the Yaba College of Technology in honour of late sprinter, Nkem Ezeala.

The Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN)  All-Comers Competition is set to follow in Lagos on May 4, with the AFN Golden League kicking off in Bauchi on May 14, before heading to Port Harcourt on May 21, and then Ilorin on May 28. The final leg of the league is expected to hold in Akure, the Ondo State capital on June 4.
