Team FCT’S Rosemary Chukwuma finally had something to cheer about after winning the Girls’ 200m title at the National Youth Games taking place in Ilorin.

It was obvious that Chukwuma had a point to prove and was going for the title, seeing how well she won her 200m semifinal heat, going on to beat the field and win the final crossing the line in 24.4s

Chukwuma was one of the favourites to finish on the podium in the 100m, but her disqualification for a false start denied her the opportunity to have been in a stead to challenge for two individual medals.

Athletics coverage was a discovery, having to move away from regularly writing about Football. Although it was initially daunting, but now being an authority in it makes the past effort worthwhile. From travelling on the same international flight with Nigerian athletes, to knowing you could easily interview: World Record holder Tobi Amusan, then Ese Brume, I have cut my teeth in this beat earning the trust of Athletics sources.
