Not everyone has the capacity to take a risk, but in order to get ahead of the field, it is sometimes necessary to take one.

Xtopher Maduewesi’s Team Trailblazers dominated Day 13 standings of the Fantasy Race contest by making World Record (WR) holder in the women’s 3000m Steeplechase, Ruth Jebet his captain ahead of the Zurich Diamond League.

It was a huge risk no doubt, considering that the Bahraini athlete had finished outside the podium at the London 2017 World Championships. However, the risk paid off, with the team earning a massive 60 points from just one individual as Jebet went on to set a World Lead (WL) and Meeting Record (MR) of 8:55.29.

Going by his impressive display at the Birmingham Diamond League where he cleared a World Leading height and MR of 2.40m in the men’s High Jump, most people chose Mutaz Essa Barshim as their captain, having expected him to replicate the same feat. However, the Qatari athlete called it a day with his winning mark of 2.36m.

Trailblazers amassed a total of 146 points at the meet, with Lawal Team following in 2nd place with 134 points. Isa Ojibara’s team was 3rd with 132 points.
