Athletes in Lagos State are set to turn up for the 2nd edition of the Nkem Ezealah Memorial Meet slated to hold at the Teslim Balogun Stadium in Lagos on Saturday, July 8th.

The first edition of the competition was held at the Yaba College of Technology in April last year in honour of Nkem Ezealah, who passed on in a car crash along Benin-Ore road on March 15, 2016. Her mother also died in the accident.

The events to be featured in include the women’s Long Jump, Men’s Triple Jump, men and women’s 100m, men’s Long Jump, men and women’s 400m, and the men and women’s 4x100m relay.

Ezealah was a talented sprinter who had carved a niche for herself as one of the top athletes based in Nigeria, and represented the country at the 2013 African Junior Championships in Mauritius where she won GOLD in the 4x100m and placed 5th in the 100m.

She made her international debut at senior level at the IAAF Challenge Meeting in Dakar, Senegal where she finished 3rd in the 100m (11.54s). She was an active member of Esteem  Athletics Track Club at the time of her death.
