Teams USA & Jamaica are set for an epic 4x100m Final showdown in Rio, after both teams safely navigated through their heats despite resting 100m Olympic Gold & Silver Medallists Usain Bolt & Justin Gatlin respectively.

The USA quartet of Mike Rodgers, Christian Coleman, Tyson Gay and Jarrion Lawson ensured they got the baton to the finish line clocking a blistering new Season’s Best (SB) of 37.65s, with the Chinese quartet of Xinqiang Tang, Xie Zhenye, Su Bingtian and Zang Pemieng also running an astonishing race to clock 37.87s for a new Asian Record, while Canada settled for 3rd in 37.89s.

Meanwhile in the second heat, it didn’t go smoothly for Jamaica as many would have expected as they finished runners-up with an SB of 37.94s. Although they were without the big man Bolt, one cannot over look the threat posed by Japan who were the winners in 37.68s, breaking China’s very short-lived Asian Record, while Trinidad and Tobago was 3rd in an SB of 37.96s.

The Americans are currently topping, with their time being the fastest going into the finals, while Jamaica is in 5th position. But with Travon Brommel and Gatlin expected to make a return, while Jamaica will also have Bolt and Blake in their belt, one can only expect a fast race in the finals.
