The women’s Discus Throw has not been this competitive in a long while, with no less than four women gunning for the national title.

Top on the list is National Record (NR) holder and Nigerian leader Chinwe Okoro who set the NR of 61.58m in April. She may not have done as much at the African Championships where she won Silver with 55.67m due to a wrist injury.

Claire Uke won two medals for Nigeria at the 2015 African Games

However she will be hoping to go against Nwanneka Okwelogu who inspired a Nigerian 1-2-3 finish in Durban, throwing to a Personal Best (PB) of 56.75m to dethrone Okoro in the process.

Not left out of contention is reigning National Champion and African Games GOLD medallist Claire Uke, as well as Chioma Onyekewere who picked double Bronze medals in Durban in the Discus and Shot put.
