Though Nigerian sprinter Nkem Ezealah is gone, she is certainly not forgotten! Ezealah, a footballer turned sprinter, died in a car crash along Benin-Ore road on Tuesday, March 15, on her way to the village in the South Eastern part of the country along with her mum, who also died in the accident.

Before her demise, she had participated in the Top Sprinter Genesis auditions in Benin. As such, Making of Champions put together a short video to celebrate the life of the talented athlete, who was a member of Esteem Athletics Club in Lagos. You can watch it below:

Making of Champions had earlier done a story celebrating the life and achievements of Ezealah who enjoyed an impressive career on the track, particularly in the 2015 season where she established herself as one of the Top 3 home-based female sprinters.

A novelty football match organized in Ezealah’s memory is scheduled to take place at the institution she graduated from, the Yaba College of Technology by 2pm on Friday, April 8, 2016.

The Track and Field Coaches Association of Nigeria (TAFCAN) Trials initially billed for the National Stadium will now hold at the Yaba College of Technology, so both events will run concurrently as the Athletics world also pay their last respects to Nkem Ezealah.

It is only fitting that the event takes place at Ezealah’s former school, considering that her Athletics career kicked off from there.
